With Pleasanton, CA being a family-friendly suburb, many of these families have numerous pets. If you have pets and like to invite your friends and family over, it’s probably a good idea to clean your house in order to eliminate pet dander and pet urine.  Pet urine is not a pleasant smell and you guests will not want to stick around for a long time. Dogs, cats, birds, and other creatures are not always the most cleanliness roommates. Even if your pet is potty trained, it’s very likely that your animal will leave pet hair and dander on your carpet, furniture, upholstery, and other drapery.

Pet dander is the loose dermal skin cells which our pets regularly shed.  Although pet hair can be easier to spot, pet dander is virtually invisible. The overexposure in your house to pet dander can in some cases lead to asthma, and other respiratory complications.  The proteins from pet saliva, hair, and urine are what usually trigger a person’s allergic reaction. Research gathered estimates that 15-30% of allergic reactions are from cats, dogs, and other animals. Common allergic reactions include rashes and eczema, coughing, watery and itchy eyes, congestion or runny sinus. With excessive amounts of pet dander in your home this can start aggravating your allergies even if you usually are not allergic to cats or dogs.

Not everyone crates their animals, so when left unattended, accidents can happen. Pet urine leaves stains, but also cannot be detected with the human eye. Pet urine is comprised of thousands of bacteria organisms found in urea, sodium chloride, urine acid, and other detoxified wastes. It’s also very difficult and time consuming to get rid of the foul odor pet urine and feces leaves behind. The bacteria live off of any moisture or food sources in the particular area.

After you can determine all the pet urine stains, it’s important to remove and replace the soiled carpet padding. Also, when pet urine is left sitting on an area for a prolonged time period, it may soak into the sub floor. In this case the sub floor needs to be treated with the anti-microbial solution or an enzyme. With extreme cases, some sub floors need to be sealed. After replacing and treating the subfloor level, it’s time to proceed with the carpet cleaning.

A proven and effective carpet cleaning method is through hot water extraction, it’s advised that you clean the underlying side of the carpet. Various carpet cleaning companies use effective and powerful chemicals solutions mixed in their hot water extractors. After the subfloor has been sealed, the back of the carpet is completely clean, and then the new carpet padding and carpet can be set down. Finally, you’re ready for the surface carpet cleaning using hot water extraction.  When the high pressure cleaning is finished, allow your carpet for a sufficient drying time. After you’ve had the hot water extraction carpet cleaning the overall result is a cleaner and healthier home!

If you reside in the Pleasanton, CA area and have pets, consider getting a hot water extraction carpet cleaning that will be beneficial to your entire household. The best carpet cleaners in the industry lay impetus on providing the best cleaning agents on the market. The primary role of the cleaners is to clean carpets; rugs, Tile & Grout, and upholstery to keep them clean for a longer duration without damaging them.

The “Bad” Berber is made of polypropylene, often called Olefin or Poly Olefin

Berber carpet looks so good in the store. But, I can't say it enough times – Berber is the style or weave of a carpet, it is not the type of fiber of a carpet. Just like "Shag" or "Saxony", which refer to the appearance and construction of the fiber weave or fiber cut. Berber carpet can be made of different types of fibers or combinations of fibers.

The sales hype surrounding Berber carpet was initially unintentional. The Olefin story and consumer ignorance are really the culprits. The consumer, and far too often the carpet seller as well, is naive to the fiber content of carpet and what it means in terms of performance and required maintenance. The content here is intended to inform anyone with carpeted space to avoid any purchase of a carpet without first having an accurate understanding of what Berber is and is NOT!!! See our original Consumer Report on Berber.

Truly good carpet, like those made of 100% Nylon or Wool, will last for at least 10 years under the worse traffic conditions, Cared for properly that number doubles or triples for Nylon.

The "bad" Berber is made of polypropylene, often called Olefin or Poly Olefin. It has a very bad reputation. So carpet manufacturers are dreaming up new product names every day to disguise the fact that it's Olefin, Polypropylene is a cheap polymer and has only one known real value in the world of carpet namely when it's manufactured into strictly carpet backing material. It doesn't belong on the top as "face fiber". Since this cheap fiber can be woven into Berber style, it is a very misleading imposter of the best soft floor coverings, Nylon or the luxurious Wool carpet.

Nylon still dominates the carpet market and always will. Wool is the only alternative to Nylon carpet and holds a small percentage (less than 5% in the USA) of the market due to cost and lifestyle factors. Wool carpet is usually sold to the very upscale residential and commercial property owners.  However, for about a decade Olefin Berber has been pushed so hard as a Berber alternative that consumers fell for it. In actual use, the result is the constant complaints by consumers of poor performance and misrepresentations of the product.

Some of the thousands of emails we receive complaining about the biggest mistake a home owner can make with regard to Berber carpet. The conclusion, Berber carpet (unless made of 100% wool or 100% nylon) is the worst carpet to buy today! For the record, we do not sell carpet at all. Our endorsement of Nylon and Wool is based on real life experience for more than 8 years and our services on millions of yards of carpet.

The moral of the story is to educate yourself BEFORE you buy any carpet! Eminent Carpet Cleaning will post various articles to assist you in that education. In addition, Cleaning Services for Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon carpet cleaning offers a wide range of cleaning services. Some of its main cleaning services include carpet and upholstery cleaning, rugs and Tile and Grout cleaning, Upholstery cleaning, commercial cleaning, office cleaning and gutter cleaning etc. Eminent Carpet Cleaning services San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton & Livermore

5 Myths of Carpet Cleaning

There are a few myths about carpet cleaning that need to be addressed to alleviate your worries about professional carpet cleaning.

Myth #1:

Some Tri-Valley residents feel you should wait as long as possible to clean your carpet or rug.  Many years ago this was true as shampooing was the primary method of carpet cleaning.  Even today, many homeowners can receive poor cleaning jobs by low priced cleaners that soak their carpet, which can cause all of the spots to return days after the cleaning.  As well, the carpet can be filled with residue, which will cause it to get dirty FAST.  However, if your carpet is cleaned correctly, it should be rinsed residue-free and dried within 8 hours.  Your carpet and rugs will last much longer and look beautiful after cleaning.

Myth #2:

Your carpet and rugs should only be cleaned when they look dirty.  Just like the sheets on your bed, your carpet is a fabric.  Do you wait until your sheets LOOK dirty before you wash them?  Of course not!  Every day you are tracking grease, dirt, pollen, dust, and outdoor pollutants on your carpet and rugs.  They are made to hide these soils very well.  If you wait until it looks dirty, it will have an extreme soil build up by that point.  Every carpet and rug manufacturer recommends professional cleaning at least every 12 months.  If you’ve been using it for two years and it looks clean, it still needs cleaning to maintain a good appearance.

Myth #3:

One method of carpet cleaning is as good as another.  Eminent Carpet Cleaning  is experienced in the steam method of cleaning.  There are important facts we have discovered.  The dry-cleaning methods-which are dry foam, dry chemicals, carbonation, and dry compound do not rinse your carpet with water. Carpet makers for residential carpet rarely recommend these methods.  Instead, they recommend hot water extraction from a truck mounted cleaning unit.  Hot water extraction means a hot water cleaning solution, under pressure, is forced into your carpet and then sucked out of your home.

Myth #4:

Bleach is a good stain remover.  First, bleach is NOT safe for humans.  Furthermore, it isn’t good for your carpet or tile as it bleaches all colors.  If your carpet has any nylon, the fiber will turn yellow.  If the fiber is wool (as in a wool rug), the fiber will actually dissolve.  Furthermore, pouring bleach on a carpet can cause the backing to separate which will cause the carpet fibers to fall out.  DON’T USE BLEACH ON YOUR CARPET.

Myth #5:

There is a space-age revolutionary stain remover that will remove any stain and odor in carpet.  If you believe this, you’ve been watching too much television.  We carry at least 12 different spot removers on our truck when we come out to clean your carpet.  Each spot remover works better on different types of stains.  As well, there are completely different cleaning agents used for pet odor problems.  If there was one “all purpose cure” to stains, it would be sold to professional cleaning companies for $100 a gallon and we would purchase 55 gallons drums of it.  However, it doesn’t exist.  Take my word for it.

Berber Carpets Are They Easy to Clean?

Some homeowners love their berber carpets. Others regret the day it was installed. What type of berber carpet will last? Or better yet, in what situations will a berber carpet last? This article will help you understand berber carpeting.

Many homeowners choose berber for the contemporary look, the “no track marks” where you walk, or the often mistaken ease of clean-ability.

Each fiber type and carpet style has different benefits. The type of carpet you purchase should depend largely upon who lives in your home. First, let me say that if you have pets that are prone to scratching at your carpet, you should avoid berber completely. Your pet may snag your carpet and pull up the fibers.

Many berber carpets are made of olefin, which is a VERY stain resistant fiber. Kool-aid, bleach, and peroxide do not stain olefin fibers as quickly (but it can still happen). However, it absorbs oils more than other fibers.

The biggest problem with berber is that most are very light colored. The traffic patterns begin to show oil accumulation and scratches when it starts to wear. Because of this potential problem, if you have pets or kids, a light colored berber may not be the best choice for you. A dark colored olefin berber would be better.

Some berbers are made from nylon. The fibers will not scratch or show oil like an olefin berber will. They are much more durable. However, these fibers are prone to kool-aid, bleach, pet stains, and peroxide spills. If your home is not prone to these types of stains, a nylon  carpet can be a very good choice. If you must have a light colored berber,  nylon or  would be better. However, even with the best grade of carpet, a very light colored fiber will never last as long as the same carpet in a darker color. A 100% nylon mid grade twist is also a great choice.

When buying carpeting, you get what you pay for!

Dark colored berber carpets can be a good choice in any type of fiber. The dark color will not show the oil absorption or scratched traffic lanes as readily as lighter colors.

“Cut Berber”

This is the new style of carpet that looks like a berber pattern, but it is actually termed “Frieze”. The Frieze carpet has all the benefits of berber, but you don’t have to worry about the loops unraveling. A nylon frieze is a very sturdy carpet in most cases. Try to avoid light colored polyester Frieze carpet as it can show oils in traffic lanes. If you ever have any questions about what type of carpet may be suitable for you, contact us.
